How to care for itchy and/or inflamed scalp?

Oftentimes misuse of products can lead to itchiness and too much tension on the scalp can lead to inflammation. You don't want to break the skin, so gently massage the irritated areas and try not to scratch too hard. When putting hair into protective styles (i.e. braids, faux locs, etc.), ease up on the grip, especially around your edges, and be sure to speak up to your stylist if any part of the style is too tight. You should also consult with a doctor to make sure you are not allergic to any of the products you may have used on your hair.

Kyra's Shea Medleys products are natural and vegan and we've put together this simple hair care routine to help care for your scalp and curls. Here's how:

STEP 1:

SCRUB
(scalp gently about 1x per week or every other shampoo)

STEP 2:

CLEANSE
(1x per week or as needed with focus on the scalp)

STEP 3:

CONDITION
(for 5 minutes then rinse; leave-in if hair tends to be very dry)

STEP 4:

HYDRATE
(scalp and hair with floral water up to 2x daily; 3x if very dry)

STEP 5:

SEAL MOISTURE
(and seal floral water with butter or oil 1x daily; 2x if very dry)

DONE!
Repeat 5-step routine as necessary & listen to your hair's needs.
