Summer and Heat Caution
We have been in business for many years now and have been constantly learning from both our mistakes and successes. Spring and summertime come with increased temperatures and risk of our Butters (Butter Creams and Baby Butters) melting during shipping transit due to the high heat. Therefore, we have to adjust our operations in the following ways during the hotter seasons:
1) Summer Care and Heat Caution
As many of you may know, Shea Butter is prone to melting when subject to high temperature environments. Shea Butter in its solid form melts at 95 degrees Fahrenheit and Coconut Oil melts at 76 degrees. That means our whipped Butter Creams and Baby Butters are more likely to melt during shipping transit when the weather is hot. Therefore, we highly suggest that all orders be placed to an address where the package can be moved swiftly inside and not have to sit outside in the heat. Email and text message tracking for USPS and UPS can be enabled on your order.
2) Mandatory Priority Shipping for Butter Only
Kyra’s Shea Medleys is now based in Atlanta, GA and the Spring and Summer seasons out here definitely means heat! We are aware that many states like Arizona and Nevada can easily reach the high 90s to 100+ degrees especially during the summer. It is for this reason that all packages that contain Butter Creams and Baby Butters will ship via Priority Mail only to ensure a speedy delivery.
USPS Priority Mail includes insurance up to $50 for lost and/or damaged packages (see https://www.usps.com/ship/priority-mail.htm for more details) and UPS also protects all of their packages with insurance up to $100 if the package is lost and/or damaged (see https://www.ups.com/us/en/help-center/sri/protection-package.page for more details). All USA orders of $75 or more will still automatically get FREE Priority Shipping (no discount code necessary).
